The Windy brand has always been respected, with a reputation for quality of build and a sea going ability second to none. This reputation was forged at the original Windy shipyard in Arendal, Norway where some of the brands most iconic models were built.
The timeless Windy designs and legendary hull forms hark from the drawing board of Norwegian, Naval Architect Hans J Johnsen, one of the most respected naval architects of his time.
The residuals of Windy boats have always been legendary, giving clients the confidence to purchase in the knowledge that they won’t lose their shirt, when it came to resale.
The Windy Khamsin was first launched as the Windy 34 Khamsin, fitted with the KAD 44 engines (260HP), with the option to upgrade to the KAD 300 engines on later builds (285HP). The 34 was available with a choice of sports or sun pad cockpit layouts.
The sports layout included a U-shaped aft cockpit configuration, where the sun pad option offered a large aft sun pad with moveable back rest. The boat was always supplied with three custom sports seats forwards, generous top stowing lazarettes, wet bar and ergonomic helm. The access to the foredeck was via an opening windscreen gate, with plenty of sturdy hand holds and there is space to store a tender and outboard in the engine room.
The Khamsin was popular in both Mediterranean and Northern European markets allowing for her aggressive and extremely capable hull, large expansive cockpit and comfortable weekend accommodation for four, with a converting v-berth forwards and amidships cabin. In addition, she was appointed with a generous galley and separate shower compartment.
The Windy 35 Khamsin was introduced in 2006 with the hull and bathing platform extended to take the weight of the new range of Volvo D-series engines. Windy also introduced the option of the much larger D6 engine, which was eventually rated up to 370HP and quoted with a top speed in the region of 47-48kts, depending on conditions.
Fitted with the D6-370 engines and sun pad cockpit configuration, this model has proven in recent years to be one of the most popular and desirable on the Windy brokerage market.
From 2010, SHADOW is a fine example of the Windy 35 Khamsin and was originally supplied by Berthon. She is currently offered for sale from her berth in Altea, in mainland Spain. She has been meticulous maintained by an experienced owner, who has invested heavily in her up-keep and significant refit. His efforts have been complemented by an experienced and equally capable local service agent.
SHADOW’s current owner has not been disappointed in their first Windy purchase. He syas:
‘My family have enjoyed a number of boats over the years and we purchased SHADOW after looking at a number of options. Our criteria was for a capable, fast and economical cruiser to experience the Spanish coast safely with the occasional crossing to the Balearic Islands. SHADOW was our first experience of Windy quality and a Windy hull. She has not disappointed, providing us with the comfort and convenience to cruise further afield.’
SHADOW is offered with a comprehensive specification, which includes the popular sun-pad configuration and the largest Volvo D6-370 engines. She was recently re-fitted with new teak to her cockpit, bathing platform and the foredeck, and with new cockpit upholstery, cockpit table, diesel hob, inverter and upgrades to her Bimini. The hull has recently been refinished in a stunning metallic lacquer.
