Italy has a large and varied coastline stretching from Imperia, close to Monaco down to Genoa to Naples and with Palermo at its foot. The waters of the Mediterranean lap this coastline with easy access to the beautiful and glamorous islands of Sardinia and Corsica. The other side of the Italian foot provides cruising in the lovely Ionian and Adriatic as well as access to the iconic port of Venice.
It is a very cool place to cruise and to keep a yacht and many yachtsmen both Italian and international do so. In its numerous ports, there are a plethora of great yachts for sale and good service points can be found throughout the area if you have some local knowledge.
Berthon in Italy
Berthon have been working with Filippo Martini for some while and he is key for us in unlocking the best of Italy. A mad, keen sailor, he is also an experienced yacht broker and knows the cruising grounds well. He is knowledgeable about the best places to keep a yacht for sale, local taxes, registration and generally about getting things done in Italy.
We are fortunate to have a number of brokerage yachts available for sale on the Italian Riviera and elsewhere in Italy. We are often in Italy because we are the agents for Solaris Sail in the UK, Sweden, Finland and the USA, and Solaris Power in the UK.
We know and appreciate the skill of the Italian yacht building industry with their attention to detail and ability to build yachts that look, and are, super cool…
We also work with Pegasus who build close by in Slovenia and commission and hand over in beautiful Venice.
Our Brokerage Offering in Italy
Our brokerage offering in Italy today is diverse and all these yachts listed below are available to see, touch and write a cheque for now in Italy –
An excellent opportunity to jump into a fresh Solaris 55 for the 2022 season. A very environmentally conscious yacht, from her inset solar panels in the deck with large capacity battery pack, to her Renolit underwater antifoul film, she makes onboard living a breeze, and performance to boot.
A Pegasus 50 Electric with electric drive, Pegasus Yachts under the guidance of designer Marko Pas has pioneered this option and she will be sailing in 2023. She offers all the speed, capability and comfort of her diesel powered sisters, yet is kinder to the planet. Access to machinery is very well thought out and simple and it is possible to enjoy much of your cruising in a carbon neutral environment aboard this great yacht.
New build from our friend at Pegasus Yachts whose designer Marko Pas was the power behind the Shipman range. Of carbon with intelligent and 21st century systems, she is both rewarding and easy to sail and also comes with a fantastic deck saloon with an easy connection to the large spacious cockpit with twin wheels. This yacht will be sailing in 2023 and will join her sisters, offering her new owners great cruising with the ability to cross oceans without fuss.
Fantastically fast Dixon 65 sailing yacht which has a great interior for entertaining below – in high gloss mahogany and with lovely mahogany floors. She has been substantially updated and improved in this ownership including new paint and a review of all her systems. This was to prepare her for a serious world cruise to be undertaken mainly 2-handed. Sadly bad health has intervened and they will now not take her so she is being offered for sale. Immaculate good looks, epic sailing and comfortable accommodation. She is ready to sail.
Some yachts are phenomenal – 84′ Custom Frers Sloop, METOLIUS is such a yacht. Designed by German Frers she is both fast and graceful. Her interior styling by Peter Beeldsnijder has provided a luxurious but with timeless interior. The build by Royal Huisman has produced a top quality, robust and very well-engineered vessel. Conceived from the outset as a family cruising yacht to be easily handled – METOLIUS has excelled in that role. Do not be dissuaded by her y ears or miles – METOLIUS is iconic, special and ready for further adventures.
The S&S Nautor Swan 65 has become something of a legend in the sailing world. PEAK is hull number 1 of the series (of 41 built). A sistership 65-003 SAYULA was winner of the first Whitbread Round the World Race 1973-74. Other sisters competed in subsequent Whitbreads. Nautor Swan 65s have competed and won races the world over. However, it is as a cruising yacht that they are most enjoyed. PEAK has cruised widely and is easy to sail. Her husband-and-wife crew have just sailed her two handed from Trinidad to Horta on their way back to the Med. This is a true classic and “all-rounder” yacht.
The Van Dam Nordia Shipyard in Holland built outstanding go anywhere cruising yachts. This Nordia 55 was built by them in 1995. She was the first of the the 55s and was specified to her original owners wishes, including a cherry interior designed by British designers Field Work. She has circumnavigated the globe and after being stored ashore for a few years, she had a massive refit at the Berthon Boat Company – paint, systems and new forward accommodation area. In this ownership, she was further upgraded – including new wrap and AV in 2021, and of course, she’s a Nordia.
Solaris 72 DH, PLUM has done her fair share of sailing and was originally built for the renowned sailor Enrico Tettamanti. She completed a 5 year circumnavigation including the Artic Seas and a west to east trip through the Northwest Passage. Solaris 72 DH, PLUM was an uncompromising build, constructed to withstand the challenges of an ambitious and demanding circumnavigation which she carried out both in safety and comfort and is now ready for her next adventurous owners.
Handsome Vallicelli design Comet 62 RS – built by Comar Yachts SPA in 2007. She looks, and is, the business. Fast sailing, easily handled shorthanded and long legged for passage making and comes with great deck space and enormous cockpit. Down below her teak interior is spacious, light and airy. She has been much updated and improved in this ownership.
Nautor Swan 55, GEMM is a wonderful cruising yacht – yet she is still a true Nautor’s Swan with excellent sailing performance. The 55 centre cockpit model is one of few pure cruising yachts that Nautor built. Conceived from the outset as a central cockpit, easy to handle yacht with good volume, plenty of stowage and tankage. As you will read in her details, she benefits from nay updates and refits. Most notable of which is her new teak deck.
The S&S designed Nautor Swan 47 MK I was conceived as a club racer and family cruiser. She has always excelled in these dual roles. Like most S&S designs her windward performance is excellent. Even today you may enjoy (and do well) racing a Swan 47 in regattas. However, GRAMPUS has been used for and set up for easy, comfortable family sailing.
Awesome Maxi Custom Tender, by Custom Tenders, with triple petrol Mercruiser 350s (fitted new 2016) for 46 knot top-out. Built 1996 with masses of deck and sun-bathing space, this is a seriously sharp hull at sea! Ready to prowl.
