A great all-rounder from Beneteau, the Oceanis 473 is equally adept at cruising local waters as it is at traversing the world’s oceans. ALLEGRO OF YAR is a fine example, having been well-loved and equipped with a comprehensive inventory, along with numerous recent updates as detailed in the particulars. The spacious and easily accessible deck plan includes three cabins, two heads, and an ample saloon. The standing rigging was replaced in 2020, new electronics were installed, Flexiteak side decks were added in 2023, and through-hull fittings were updated in 2018, showcasing the continuous updating ALLEGRO has received in recent years. Currently in commission, the yacht is ideally positioned to begin the 2024 season after routine annual maintenance.

Owner’s Comments

ALLEGRO OF YAR has been a wonderful boat to own. The brief when we started looking for a boat was for a good-looking, strong, seaworthy vessel that two people could handle with ease, but which could accommodate six comfortably and eight if needed. The Clipper 473 was the perfect choice. She is very easy to handle, both under sail and in harbor, which is critical when there are only two of you. Her sail configuration, with all lines led back to the cockpit, enables easy management of furling and reefing, etc., with two people. With the bowsprit, she is a dream off the wind with either the cruising chute or tri-radial when shorthanded. However, she is also rigged for a spinnaker, so when more crew is available, this can be hoisted. She has an upgraded bow thruster, so maneuvering in harbor is not challenging. She is very light and airy below deck, with lots of storage and hanging lockers. Importantly, the aft cabins have standing headroom, making it civilized for guests. We are the second owners from new, and she has always been based in the UK.

We have loved owning ALLEGRO, but as our sailing is going to be based in the Mediterranean, we need an EU VAT-paid boat.
