Broker’s Comments

TURTLE is a very well-maintained example of the venerable Duffy 35, built by Atlantic Boat Company in 2000 and first launched as TREKKIN in 2002.

The original owner was a professional cabinet maker, and he finished the interior himself to a high level of craftsmanship over the first two years of his retirement. His precision and care are evident everywhere from the installation of deck hardware to the custom dish storage drawers and the exquisite inlaid table top, which are well beyond the typical standard of joinery in down-east boats.
TREKKIN was cruised from Newfoundland to the Bahamas and cruised throughout their home region of Maine and northern Massachusetts over their dozen years of ownership.

TURTLE is set up for self-sufficient coastal cruising. A large solar panel and simple, low consumption systems allow the current owners to go months at a time without plugging into shore power.

Originally based in Maine, she is equipped with windshield wipers, radar, power hailer with fog horn, two depth sounders and a diesel cabin heater. For warmer climates she is fitted with 8 opening ports and hatches, 4 large opening windows and two cabin doors, all with screens.

The original Cummins engine was updated with a long block replacement in 2018 (at 1917 hours on the clock) with installation by Royal River Boat Yard in Falmouth, Maine. The boat now has 2450 Hours in total boat use (approx.)

Under the current ownership, since 2019, all exterior doors and windows were replaced by Bomon, the manufacturer of the original windows. The bottom was shell blasted to gelcoat and built back with four coats of Barrier Coat in 2020. Two coats of Micron Extra have been applied every 24 months since. The non-skid deck was renewed with the Kiwi-grip system. The propeller, rudder and trim tabs are coated with Prop-Speed.

The motor mounts, propeller shaft, shaft seal and bearings were pre-emptively replaced, and the propeller was tuned in 2021. Fuel tanks were cleaned and all coolers serviced (turbo after cooler replaced) in 2024. All batteries were replaced in 2025.

The varnished interior is in very good condition and has a warm inviting ambience together with the upholstery. In the cabin house is the galley to port with front opening refrigerator, stove and large counter top. Forward of this is the co-pilots seat. To Starboard, behind the helm and herm door is the dinette with a great view out of the windows, and a hi/low drop leaf table with a marquetry inlay of the outline of the boat in the table top.

Stepping forward and below is the head to starboard, a vestibule to port and the vee berth cabin forward. The forward berth has a fitted mattress topper and fitted sheets.

The exterior varnish is professionally maintained annually and is in excellent condition There are two cockpit shades; a simple speed top and a Bimini aft cockpit cover with connected forward awning and side curtains that make a full tent enclosure (note that neither cockpit covers have been used under current ownership). A weather-tight, full boat canvas winter cover installs over a wood frame.

Current owners are lifetime sailboat racers and experienced ocean cruisers.

Owner’s Comments

TURTLE has been our first cruising powerboat, and we have enjoyed every minute of using and maintaining her. TURTLE gets compliments from other boaters on virtually every outing. We are selling in order to move to a larger Duffy due to an overabundance of grandchildren.
