Oyster 655, SALTA is a superb example of this highly regarded bluewater cruiser, combining sweet lines from Rob Humphreys with impressive performance, comfort and ocean-going capability.

Her spacious deck saloon layout is ideal for family cruising, featuring a generous owner’s stateroom aft, two comfortable guest cabins forward, and an additional twin cabin suitable for crew or extra guests. Light-filled living spaces, excellent storage and Oyster’s renowned build quality make her equally suited to extended cruising or life aboard.

Under sail, SALTA is fast, capable and immensely rewarding. Her Hall Spars carbon rig, fully battened mainsail and deep performance keel deliver excellent sailing characteristics, while the large cockpit with twin carbon wheels provides superb control and comfort underway.

SALTA has been exceptionally well cared for throughout her life, benefiting from attentive ownership and continuous investment. Most recently, she underwent a substantial refit in Spring 2025, including a comprehensive Perkins engine overhaul by Perkins Italy, installation of Starlink and 5G connectivity, a complete underwater refurbishment with epoxy primer and Coppercoat protection, and the integration of a new 1.8kWp solar power system on the bimini and foredeck. SALTA looks good from every angle, and she is presented in full cruising trim, ready for immediate use.

Owner’s Comments

I purchased SALTA because the Oyster 655 represents, in my view, the pinnacle of bluewater cruising yachts, combining exceptional safety, outstanding sailing performance, and luxurious comfort. My original ambition was to sail around the world, and I selected this particular model because it offered the ideal balance between long-range cruising capability and rewarding sailing characteristics.

Over the following years, I cruised extensively throughout the Mediterranean, gaining complete confidence in the yacht’s abilities and systems. In 2025, SALTA fulfilled her offshore pedigree during the ARC+ rally, where she achieved Line Honours on the leg from the Canary Islands to Cape Verde and went on to become the second-fastest monohull on the Atlantic crossing from Cape Verde to Grenada.

Following the Atlantic crossing, my wife and I spent the Caribbean season cruising from Grenada to Puerto Rico, visiting almost every island along the route over a period of five months. Throughout a wide range of conditions, SALTA proved herself to be an exceptionally capable, reliable, and comfortable yacht. She never let us down and performed flawlessly throughout our voyage.

Equipped with a fully battened mainsail and carbon mast, SALTA is a remarkable performer. Her sleek lines and balanced design allow her to sail effortlessly and confidently, even in challenging sea states, while maintaining the comfort and security for which Oyster yachts are renowned.

Ultimately, family priorities and the desire to spend more time with our growing family and grandchildren led us to change our plans and abandon the idea of a circumnavigation. It was therefore with a heavy heart that I arranged for SALTA to be professionally delivered from Puerto Rico to England, where she is now offered for sale.

I personally oversaw the yacht’s extensive 2025 refit programme, ensuring that every aspect was completed to a high standard. As a result, SALTA is fully prepared for her next adventure, whether that be extended ocean cruising, world voyaging, or an ambitious circumnavigation. She is a proven offshore yacht that is ready to take her next owners anywhere in the world.
