Discovery 55, BLUE MAGIC

Broker’s Comments

Discovery 55, BLUE MAGIC is in fantastic condition for her age. She is hull number 14 of these ever-popular Ron Holland-designed bluewater cruisers, built by Discovery Yachts in 2006. She is currently in her second ownership and has been with these custodians since 2019.

She has proved a comfortable, reassuring platform for family and friends while cruising the Med. The current owners have upgraded her systematically, and much of the yacht’s major equipment is recent. Highlights include a new Yanmar engine in 2022, housed in a very tidy and well-organised engine room. Other 2022 upgrades included new sails from North along with a full suite of Raymarine nav gear. All the mod cons, including air conditioning and diesel heating, are installed, so all climates are covered!

Below decks she has cherry joinery with teak and holly laminate sole. A chance to acquire a well-loved, extensively upgraded Discovery 55 which is in ready-to-go condition.

Owner’s Comments

We purchased BLUE MAGIC with a view to potentially participating in the ARC and completing a circumnavigation; however, we have ended up sailing her entirely in the Mediterranean, often spending several months on board. True to her type she is a wonderfully comfortable and safe boat, who will give confidence to the most nervous of sailors and guests. She has been a superb platform for holidays with family and friends, at her best in a remote anchorage for extended stays. She has excellent sea-keeping qualities, and is capable of fast, fun passages across a range of conditions.

We have systematically upgraded most aspects of the yacht during our ownership; however, we have now reluctantly decided to ‘down-size’ – to focus on sailing in UK waters from our small local harbour.
